Cruising the Murray River

The PS Oscar 'W' is home !

15/04/2011

Although due to the failure to get past Lock 2 and participate in the PS Industry 100 year celebrations our trip up river as far as Morgan was a very good success.

I would like to thank all those passengers who participated in this unique river trip on the PS Oscar for taking the time out to enjoy this historic paddle steamer and support the volunteers who helped to make this possible.

Be assured that the funds raised will be put back into the Oscar for the future of the boat and to preserve this icon  for the future generations.

The Alexandrina Council, who are the proud owners of the Oscar, need to be thanked for allowing us to promote to the general public this truly iconic vessel with all the passion that we as volunteers feel.

It is important that we keep this part of our history alive and operational so that all have the opportunity to enjoy it.

Out of interest we travelled a total of 1200 river kms and loaded a lot of wood. The logistics of being away from our home port of Goolwa  are quite high and I also must thank the Mid Murray Council for their support and help that they gave us at Morgan and especially the towns people of Morgan who opened their arms to make the Oscar and its crew feel very welcome during our stay.

Thanking  You.
Dave Finnie.
President PS Oscar ”W”
